OPPORTUNITIES

CASTING CALL

We are looking for three performers to join our team.

CRITERIA FOR ALL ROLES: 
•⁠  ⁠⁠Based in Edinburgh or commuting distance 
•⁠  ⁠⁠Singers with experience in Musical Theatre
•⁠  ⁠⁠Available for a rehearsed reading on April 26 - 28
•⁠  ⁠⁠Available in August to perform at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival (dependent on separate funding)

ROLE 1: CLAIRE 

  • White/European Descent 

  • Playing Age 20-30

A white British woman, studying for her Master's degree. Easygoing and humorous, and close to her dad and brother, whom she grew up watching football with. Being the youngest in the house she does the most learning and growing throughout the piece.

ROLE 2: JENNY 

  • South Asian/Indian Descent 

  • Playing Age 20-30

A British woman with Indian heritage. Open-minded and enthusiastic, eager to learn from her housemates, and move into her house away from home. Third generation migrant, close to her dad who’s from London. Not afraid of conflict and having difficult conversations.

ROLE 3: ASHIRA 

  • Black/African Descent

  • Playing Age 25-35

A black, British woman. Owner of the house everyone is moving into, which was obtained through the help of her mother who is a doctor in the NHS. She’s dealing with the challenges of adulthood and racial discrimination. Private about personal struggles, strong, and proud.


THE PROJECT

We are redeveloping our show Immigration Crisis: The Musical with support from Culture Edinburgh and are planning a rehearsed reading of the finished script in April 2024. 

Immigration Crisis: The Musical is a performance that explores the lives of five women who have just moved into a new house together; immigrants, third-generation immigrants and British tenants joined by their move to Scotland.


FINANCIALS

The fee for three days of work including a shared reading at the end of the third day is £300. 

The rehearsed reading will form part of the third day of work. Wage is calculated at £14 an hour - 7-hour days plus a 1-hour unpaid lunch break.
